Hikes and digestive strolls from the Domain
Suitcases are put away and clothes tied up in the dressing room. The first rest day is done. Here are some suggestions of more or less easy walking, from your villa.
Half day walks
Calvi - To join the center of Calvi by foot, we recommend you to walk on the wooden walk, parallel to the beach. You will have a magnificent view on the Genovese citadel of Calvi with the sound of the waves and the good feeling of your feet in the water. A must do at 7 pm in summer when the beach is less busy ! Ideal for a digestive walk from your Villa (count 25' to the port, walking quietly).
La Revelatta - A ballad by the sea with refreshing stops in the wild creeks of the peninsula of Revelatta. A path leaves Calvi, winds through the scrubland and joins the lighthouse of Revelatta. A shorter alternative leads you to the beach « Mar'a Beach » where you can drop your vehicle and then find the path. Count half a day, or a day with swimming stops. Possible meal in season and warm welcome in the straw hut of « Franck », Mar'a Beach, in an enchanting setting ! 45 minute walk to reach the lighthouse from the beach, easy level along the coast.
La Croix - For a sportier ride, we advise you to climb to Capu di a Veta where is located la Croix des Autrichien : the mountain above the bay of Calvi, peaking in 703m. Panoramic views of the gulf of Galeria to the west and the plains of Montemaggiore and airport towards the north.
La Serra - For an equally spectacular view but less sporty, we suggest you opt for the turn-off to the chapel of Notre Dame de la Serra with its panoramic views of the Gulf of Calvi. Also accessible by car, via the seaside road direction Galeria and Porto. A place to be for the sunset !
Occi - You appreciate old stones and ruins? Occi is a village of the XV century, abandoned in the XIX century and accessible only by path, the shortest of which is from the village of Lumio (30’). It is a part of a rehabilitation program, carried by the fervour of private gifts. The village comes active during St Nicolas day, the saint of the village, where his statue is carried in procession. The hike is adapted to the children.
Day hike
We recommend you the region of Corte and the valley of Restonica, the trails will lead you towards the lakes of the Melo and that of Capitello. That will gives you an insight of the Corsican mountain with its pine forest and freshwater rivers.
Another trail brings you to the village of Girolata, accessible only by foot from the Col de la Croix by sea or enjoying a trip to the marine reserve of Scandola.
30 minutes drive from Calvi, along the river Figarella, you enter the forest of Bonifatu. You will be charmed by the diversity of forest roads, the natural pools of fresh water, in the shade of lariccio pine and alder. A path leads to the refuge Carozzu, one of the huts of the famous corsican hiking trail, the GR 20. Hiking is combined with some splash. Pay parking at the Auberge de la Forêt in season.
From the multitude of mule trails, other hikes are possible in Balagne, do not hesitate to come and ask us. We have topographical maps, hiking guides, flowers and birds guide, which will allow you to orient yourself and grow you during breaks and water stops ! Remember to bring good shoes, water in sufficient quantity, sunscreen, binoculars, hat and sunglasses. Also a jacket in the inside, weather can be inpredictable.
